The Canadian Alliance of Naturopathic Regulatory Authorities is the national alliance of Canadian Naturopathic regulators.

The Canadian Alliance of Naturopathic Regulatory Authorities (CANRA) is a national coalition of regulatory authorities dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of practice in naturopathic medicine across Canada. Established to unify and represent naturopathic regulatory bodies, CANRA is committed to public safety and the integrity of naturopathic care, fostering a collaborative approach to uphold the profession’s standards.

Our ongoing initiatives support our regulators, safeguarding the future of the naturopathic medicine profession in Canada.

CANRA plays a central role in promoting cohesive and effective regulation of Naturopathic Doctors in Canada through:

  • Standardized National Competencies: Developing and maintaining national competencies and assessment standards for Naturopathic Doctors to ensure consistent, safe, and ethical practice across all regulated jurisdictions.

  • Examinations: Overseeing national entry-to-practice examinations and assessments, including Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) programs, to support qualified professionals in providing exemplary care.

  • Collaborative Regulation and Policy: Working with regulatory bodies to develop and advocate for national standards of practice and regulatory policies that protect public health while supporting the professional growth of Naturopathic Doctors.

  • Regulator Resources: Providing resources for new regulatory authorities, council members, and registrars to strengthen regulatory frameworks and uphold public trust in naturopathic healthcare.
